Perry grew up in San Francisco and was second-generation co-owner of the famous outdoor supply retailer G&M Sales on Market and Gough streets in San Francisco. In 2004, the 54-year old business closed and Perry pursued his real passion - fishing. He became a Coast Guard 100-ton Sea Captain and for 10 years, in Sausalito, he organized 6-pack fishing charters mostly for salmon but also for rockfish in the ocean and halibut and bass in the Bay.
Today, he spends much more time in Napa in the vineyard and has been exploring lake boating at Hennessey and Berryessa.
Cindy grew up on Long Island, New York. She started out as a costume designer, moved to international garment production, and then applied psychophysiology. She has 2 PhDs - one in applied psychophysiology and the other in mind-body medicine. She is a university professor and has supervised and mentored students throughout the world. Now she’s a part-time farmer while she continues to teach psychophysiology to doctoral-level students until retirement in a few years (she’s been saying this for more than a few years. . . ).
Cindy loves Meritages and so when she had to decide what grapes to plant, while it didn’t feel that creative, it was easy. Three of the 5 Bordeau blends Cab, Cab Franc, and Merlot.
No vineyard should be without its mascot(s). Wally, who is a Jack Russell/Blue Healer mix (a Cattle Jack), was born in 2007, and Bandit, who is a Springer Spaniel, was born in 2018. They are a huge asset - keeping busy chasing gophers and deer away.
Perry and Cindy lived in San Anselmo until they bought this property in 2016. After a 1 ½-year complete renovation - inside and out, they nearly lost everything in the 2017 Nunns fire. Thankfully, the property was spared and they continued to develop it.
They were married in 1995. Perry’s daughter, Lily was born in 1990 and Chelsea, Cindy’s was born in 1983. They have 2 beautiful grandsons - Clae (born 2015) and Knox (born 2019).
Wally and Bandit oversaw the planting. They especially loved when the soil was tilled.
